Huvepharma
Huvepharma is a fast-growing global pharmaceutical company with a focus on manufacturing and marketing medicated feed additives for farmed animals. The company also manufactures enzymes, mainly for inclusion in pig and poultry feed.
Huvepharma is a privately-owned company headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria, with the Sales & Marketing division located in Belgium. Originally a state owned enterprise until privatised in 1999, the wholly owned manufacturing subsidiary still retains the historic company name of Biovet.
Expansionary growth during the past decade included upgrading and purchasing new manufacturing facilities, and acquiring global feed additive brands and product registrations from Intervet and Merial. A seismic shift has been made from private label packing towards directly supplying customers with Huvepharma branded products. A substantial investment in registering new products globally in recent years has meant Huvepharma is now challenging the multi-nationals for the global lead in key antibacterial products for poultry, pigs, and cattle.
Huvepharma has an extensive R&D program, excellent quality assurance and packaged goods facilities, and employs highly skilled staff with extensive experience in the veterinary pharmaceuticals and animal production.
The Company owns primary manufacturing plants in four European locations, with another facility in the USA, and is the largest manufacturer of ionophores such as monensin and salinomycin in Europe.
Huvepharma’s ionophores premixes are renowned for excellent handling properties due to uniform granulation and low dust, and superior bioavailability.
Biovet has EU GMP certification for sterile injectables, and powder and medicated premix production facilities. All major medicated feed additives products including Coxidin (monensin) have Brand Specific Approval under the stringent European Foods Safety Authority registration standards. The Biovet plant and several antibacterial feed additive products such as Salocin (salinomycin), and GainPro (flavomycin) are also FDA approved.
Huvapharma and Biovet are also certified by SGS for GMP + HACCP Animal Feed Sector (OVOCOM), and quality management and environmental protection ISO 9001:2000/ISO 14001:1996.
